I am David McElligott and this is my site.
I got to this site in a round about kind of way. I will try and be brief about me. I may not be so brief in other writing!
I started writing when I was 12 years old or so. Just for fun, just for me. At an early age my brother got me reading early with Tolkien and that lead me to Issac Asimov, Rodger Zelanzy, Frank Herbert and many others. I think I wanted to see if I could write, and it turned out to be fun! That led to the best grades in high school I ever got, lol.
For some reason, it never occurred to me as I got older to try and do it for a living. I just did it at night, or maybe weekends for fun. As the years passed life was life and I spent a lot of time doing things that would cause a few health problems that I have now. Then the 2008 recession hit and I got laid off.
For the first time of my life I couldn’t just go out and get a job. No one was hiring! I decided screw it and went back to school, with grants. I made sure that I I was going to do it, it would have to be something I gave a shit about. So, writing!
I will forever be proud of my B.A. in English Lit and Writing. I did some damn good work on that. That of course led me to Fiverr, UpWork and Freelancer for a few years. I wasn’t focused enough to really keep it going owing to my living situation and such, so I got a “real” job.
My urge to go whole hog back into writing had been growing for awhile and then me health issues raised their head and I couldn’t do the physical work anymore. I am in a different place now and strangely more mature and I am ready to write. For me or others. I am back on Fiverr and decided to start Writing With Wolves to see who liked my stuff. Sharing can be half the fun.
I am hoping to start posting regularly and putting up stories for people to check out. Who knows where it could lead?
